The Saughall Friday Club was delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor of Chester to their celebration of three special events.

The club celebrated its 20th anniversary, member Barbara Hancox celebrated a special birthday and founder members Ann Mulliner and Sylvia Smith retired after having given so much of their valuable  time.

The Saughall Friday Club is run by local volunteers who provide a happy day of good food and entertainment to the elderly people of Saughall who live alone and are not able to  go out very often.

As well as Lord Mayor Cllr Jill Houlbrook, members welcome Cllr Brenda Dowding, Lynn Smith and Irene Kitchen, one of the social workers who assisted in forming the Club which opened in 1994.

Everyone was treated to a delicious  home-cooked lunch which was followed by very enjoyable professional entertainment and the afternoon finished with the cutting of a special celebration cake.

The Saughall Friday Club meets at the Uniformed Groups HQ and new volunteers are always welcome to this very appreciative organisation.
