DEAN SAUNDERS admitted his players looked “rusty” as they beat Basingstoke Town 2-1 last night to set up a third-round tie against Workington.

Wrexham progressed thanks to an Adam Aimable own goal and a Jefferson Louis strike, although Sido Jombarti hit back in the 87th minute.

Saunders said: “We looked a little rusty – we’ve been training on an artificial surface for 10 days and this was a completely different surface which cut up badly.

“Our passing wasn’t as crisp as it could have been, but we got the result and that was the man thing.”
