FORMER paramedic David Rock has been befriended by two of the biggest names in pop music.

David, 43, who lives in Badger Avenue, Crewe, has starred with Phil Collins in a music video and has just received a personal message from Sir Paul McCartney.

He was cast in the Phil Collins video after meeting the star in London.

It was filmed by Kevin Godley, formerly of rock bands 10CC and Godley and Cream.

The song was the theme tune to the animated feature Tarzan, for which Phil Collins was asked to write the music score.

David, who left the ambulance service after falling ill, has remained friends with the former Genesis frontman ever since.

In his career David saved countless lives. But he had to give up his work through serious illness.

David, who has raised more than £20,000 over the years to pay for heart monitors, also wrote a number of songs which he has given to Collins.

He said: 'Phil has always kept in touch. I feel so privileged such a superstar has maintained the relationship.

'He invited me to the première of Tarzan in London where I met a number of stars who I was sitting with.

'These included Brian Blessed, Damon Hill, Tony Banks and Baby Spice. It was so unreal to meet so many stars.

'I had always wanted to ask Phil about Paul McCartney, who I have been a fan of most of my life. I asked him if it was possible for him to make contact with Paul on my behalf.'

The musician agreed and David has since received a message from the former Beatle with a signed photograph.

He added: 'I find it unbelievable that one superstar has spoken to another on my behalf.

'Phil has given me lots of photos and signed so many things for me, I wonder if people believe they're genuine.

'I have also sent him gifts for his kindness. One was a gold pen for him to write his songs with, which he assured me he would do.

'I'm sure there are minor celebrities who you would be lucky to even get a reply from.'
