THE major upgrade of Ellesmere Port Library has been officially opened.

The building on Civic Way has been refurbished over the past 12 weeks.

Changes include the installation of self-service book issue and return, remodelling of the entrance area, Peoples’ Network computers and Wi Fi installation.

There has been a change to the layout of the library, improved toilet facilities complete redecoration, carpeting, and improved ventilation.

The reopening was attended by people who use the Coronation Centre and children from Hooton Day Nursery.

Cllr Stuart Parker, executive member for culture and recreation, carried out the opening ceremony. He said: “Ellesmere Port Library has changed beyond recognition and it is extremely pleasing that the library has been welcomed by so many during its first week of re-opening.”

Mayor of Ellesmere Port Angela Claydon said: “This impressive transformation of Ellesmere Port Library offers a much valued service.

“Indeed a major operation swung into action to make sure that a library service was on offer during the closure.”
