A COUPLE who had their wedding reception in Ince Village Hall went back there half a century later to mark their golden anniversary.
Margaret (Peg) Lancely and Gwilymn Debnam were wed at St James’ Church in the village in 1957.
And they were back in the hall to host a party for their relatives and friends marking their 50 years together.
Mrs Debnam was born and has lived in Ince all her life, while her husband came from the nearby village of Barrow.
His friend Arthur, also from Barrow, married Mrs Debnam’s sister Doris.
When Mr Debnam came out of the army the couple arranged for him to meet his future wife on a blind date.
They were glad to return to the village hall, which was renovated last year thanks to a donation from Shell UK, to celebrate their anniversary.
