CREWE'S Limelight Club is preparing to smash, bang and wallop a world record, Drummer Phil Duke, 30, will attempt to break the endurance record for drumming by playing for a continuous 40 hours to raise cash for Children in Need.

Billed as the Ultimate Phil Collins Tribute, she will perform almost all the Genesis/Collins repertoire, starting at dawn tomorrow and not finishing until Friday night.

Highlights of the event will be shown by the BBC on Friday evening and the show will be broadcast live on the Internet.

The event will include two full gigs when she will be joined on stage, first by a mixture of Phil Collins tribute musicians tomorrow and then by her own band Invisible Touch for Friday's finale. The rest of the time she will be drumming to backing tapes.

Under the Guinness Book of Records rules, Phil is only allowed to take 15 minutes' break every eight hours. The current record of 35 hours is held by a Canadian.

The project has the backing of Phil Collins who sent a letter of support.

She said: 'Phil has always championed many charitable causes so I thought the best way to pay homage to him was to do it in aid of a charity.'

* Tickets are available at the door at £5 for tomorrow's show and £6 for Friday.
