NORTHWICH Vics could soon have a new landlord after the Official Receivers admitted they want a quick sale on the nine-acre Wincham plot owned by Beaconet Ltd.

Finance firm Deloitte and Touche were recently sent in to take over Beaconet and help its main creditor, Clydesdale Bank, reclaim £1.25m it is owed.

And the administrators looking after Beaconet’s financial affairs say they’ll be looking to sell the land, the company’s main asset, as soon as possible.

It’s believed the land was recently valued at £1.5m, less than half the £3.2m Beaconet boss and former Vics chairman Mike Connett tried to sell it for in the summer.

Mr Connett paid £225,000 for the site in December 2004.

If the nine-acre plot is sold for more than the bank is owed, the rest of the money will be repaid to other creditors.

Deloitte says receivership will not affect the winding up petition against Beaconet due to be heard at the High Court later this month.

A spokesperson said: “Deloitte partners Dan Butters and Bill Dawson were appointed as Fixed Charge Receivers over the property owned by Beaconet Limited on October 28.

“We’re in discussions with Northwich Victoria FC to agree ongoing occupation of the site and, in the meantime, the owners are looking to sell the property.”

Vics have a cast-iron 25-year lease on the ground and whoever buys the stadium must honour it.
