John’s Sunday best

ANGLING: Last week’s cold snap accounted for Barnton and Frodsham AC’s Wednesday match on Heesoms Pool but John Cheetham kept his cool to take the plaudits on Sunday.

The ice had cleared for the final round of the Scott’s Shield Series and Cheetham’s 3-8-2 of skimmers was enough to pip Steve Walker with 1-10-8 of roach and perch and Dave Blears with 1-3-15 of perch, skimmers and a roach.

But Walker had the last laugh as he was confirmed overall title winner of the six-round series thanks to a total of 97 points. Mark Emmison was second with 96 while Blears took third with 95.
