COMIC Relief 2005 has been officially launched and the Wrexham Mail is looking for people who are raising money for this year's appeal.

Lenny Henry and a host of stars have got the 2005 appeal off the ground and Wrexham is already getting involved through Sainsbury's and TK Maxx, both official sponsors of the event.

Following on from the last Comic Relief, which had a big hair theme, this year's theme is Big Hair and Beyond.

Crazy challenges are the traditional way of making money and staff at TK Maxx in Wrexham are doing something different each week leading up to Comic Relief night on March 11 to raise extra money.

This week staff took each other on in a dry cracker-eating competition and next week's event will be advertised in-store from today (Thursday).

You can find out what is happening and make donations when you buy your official Red Nose T-shirt from the store, and log on to www.comicrelief.org.uk for tips on customising your T-shirt.

Sainsbury's is also involved, selling red noses that come with red hair gel and stickers to make your nose look unique, as well as red nose air fresheners and red nose buttons for clothes.

The Wrexham Mail is looking for readers who are getting into Red Nose Day, too. If you are holding a wacky or unusual event to raise money, let us know by calling 01978 351515 or emailing wrexham.news@cheshirenews.co.uk.
