SKIING: A Northwich school’s newly-formed skiing team is celebrating unprecedented success after taking silver in the English Schools’ Ski Association under 12s finals at Rossendale.

The Grange School’s squad of Charlie Simpson, 10, Callum Begg, 10, Charles Whittaker, 9, and Oliver Jones, 10, had not even had a training session together and competed against older boys from across the country.

Parent Deb Begg is behind the formation and development of the club.

She said: “We were up against schools from all over the country, many of them with well established ski clubs and a history of competitive skiing so the boys did incredibly well.

“Our hope is to do even better next year and we’re already working on building a girls team.”
