A BIG-HEARTED mum proved she was a cut above by raising hundreds of pounds for a teenage girl battling a rare form of leukaemia.

St Saviour’s Parochial Club regular Trisha Jones from Overpool volunteered to have her head shaved to raise funds for Kiki McGuire, who lives in Shotton.

She was inspired to help when Kiki’s aunty, Wendy Bryan, who is a professional singer, performed during one of her regular slots at the club.

Trisha said: “She sang a song for Kiki and everyone was in tears. It was at that moment that I felt I had to do something.”
