THE BBC was in Ellesmere Port yesterday (Tuesday) to raise money for underprivileged children.

BBC Radio Merseyside has teamed-up with our sister newspaper the Liverpool ECHO and Greggs the Bakers to make Christmas special for thousands of youngsters in need.

Their joint annual toy appeal brings seasonal cheer to youngsters across Merseyside and Cheshire, and borough residents came out in droves to support the initiative. Supporters were based in the Asda car park all day.

Radio Merseyside’s assistant editor, Jonathan Hallewell, said: “Every year we’re amazed by the generosity of ordinary people, who amid all the pressures of planning for the festive period, take some time to think of the region’s many underprivileged children.”
