FANS of popstar Kym Marsh shouldn't be surprised to see their idol at the Auto Quest stadium next year.

But the chart star won't be knocking out hits with her group Hear'Say instead she could be cheering on the Vikings as they enjoy their first season in Super League.

The 25-year-old, who hit fame after winning TV's Popstars, is well known for her love of rugby.

But while she may be from the Rugby League hotbed of Wigan she has let it slip that she has been a Vikings fan since she was six months old.

Speaking in the match programme ahead of last weekend's Super League Grand Final, Kym said: 'My dad, Dave, was a big Widnes fan he still is and used to take me along to watch them from when I was just a baby.

'If I wasn't at the game I'd be glued to the telly whenever they were on.

Growing up around Widnes and Wigan it was second nature to be into Rugby League and I am delighted to see Widnes making a bit of a comeback now.'

And this isn't the first time Kym, who has relatives in Halton, has appeared on the pages of the Weekly News.

She said: 'I was actually pictured on the front pages of the local newspaper as Widnes' youngest supporter when I was only six months old!'
