WELSHPOOL Town look to stretch their unbeaten league run to double figures when they host improving Newi Cefn Druids tonight.

Unbeaten in nine outings following last weekend’s goalless draw at Port Talbot, the Lilywhites will be keen to maintain the momentum – although heavy rain means this evening’s encounter will be subject to a pitch inspection.

“Cefn Druids will be a tough one – they’ve just had back-to-back wins and are unbeaten in four,” said Pool boss Tommi Morgan.

Pool will be without Brett Jefferies in the heart of the defence after the former Druid was forced off with a hamstring strain last weekend.

His absence means that Geraint Windsor could be switched to centre-half, with midfielder Aaron Stokoe moving to right-back. Dan March and Jonathan Jones are also in the frame.

Wins over Haverfordwest and Caernarfon have lifted Druids out of the basement zone, and boss Dixie McNeil – who is hoping to sign former Rhyl defender Timmy Edwards – wants to continue the run.

“It’s a difficult game but it’s not out of reach if we play like we can,” he said.

Striker Carl Lamb, who has netted eight league and cup goals this term, has left the club by mutual consent.
