POLICE are hunting three men in connection with a violent attack on board a train leaving Ellesmere Port railway station.

A 27-year old man from Birkenhead had been drinking in the nearby Station Hotel on Sunday, October 7 when he became involved in a confrontation outside with a group of men.

He ran to the station and boarded the 10.04pm service waiting on the platform.

Three men followed him and violently assaulted him, causing cuts to the mouth and head.

The victim was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital where he received five stitches for a mouth wound.

Constable David Baier of British Transport Police (BTP) said: “We take incidents of violence extremely seriously and it is vital the offenders are caught.”
