POLICE continue to make efforts to trace and identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with two suspicious incidents in the Neston area last month.

The first incident was on Raby Park Road on August 8, where a man driving a red two door sports car stopped a girl shortly before 5.30pm and asked her if she wanted a lift as he knew her mother.

She declined the lift and made her way home. No attempt was made to force her into the car.

A woman was walking along Liverpool Road on the same afternoon when a red sports car again drew up alongside her and the man asked her to get in the car, she refused and then the man asked for directions.

He then drove off towards the town centre.

On both occasions the driver was described as a black male and aged about 30 years old.

There were further suspicious incidents reported later in the month involving a red Ford Ka vehicle.

Police have traced and spoken to the user of the Ford Ka and are satisfied that no offences have been committed and that there is no link to the man in the red sports car on 8 August.

PC Mike Lockett said: “This type of behaviour is of concern to us and is obviously worrying to the community.

“We have been patrolling the area to provide reassurance and are working tirelessly to identify the car and trace the man.

“If you have any information that could help us to locate the male in the red sports car from August 8, please contact us.”

Anyone who has any information that may help to trace this man should contact Neston Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101 quoting incident number 157 of 23 August 2012. Information can also be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
