MILLIONS of people carry mobile phones with the names and numbers of their nearest and dearest stored to their memory.

As the New Year dawns, the Ambulance Service is asking people to put an extra number in their phones, an ICE number.

The concept of ICE – or In Case of Emergency – is to ensure if you are involved in an accident, paramedics can easily contact your friends and next of kin straight away.

For more than one contact, simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.
