CONSULTATION is under way on Stanney Grange about the proposed renovation of the playing fields in Thornton Road.

The work is part of the project being undertaken by Groundwork Cheshire, the Our Place Team and the Stanney Community Group to make improvements to the estate that benefit the local community.

The plans for the first phase of work at Thornton Road include upgrading the play area and providing safe crossing and access points, improving and replacing boundary fencing and vegetation, providing new pathways and gateways, linked improvements to the underpass and canal and many other associated works to make the site safe for users.

Proposals for the second phase include a MUGA, possible wheeled sports area and some improvements to the football pitches.

The first draft concept plans have been created and can be found on the Groundwork website www.groundworkcheshire.org.uk.

The team is very keen to hear feedback about the project and the designs so far, and will be visiting local schools to gather the views of children and young people in the next few weeks.

They would also really like to hear local residents’ views on the proposals and will be holding sessions on Wednesday, June 29 which residents can attend to speak to the team. These will be held on Monday, June 27 at Stanlaw Abbey Children’s centre from 11.30am-1pm and on Wednesday, June 29 at Stanney Community Centre from 4.30-6pm – before the dog training session.
