ORGANISERS of a church Jubilee celebration have received a welcome boost from an Ellesmere Port food shop.

Jenny Schafer impressed judges from The Co-operative Food with her community spirit and party plans – and was rewarded with a Jubilee pack for 50 people and £100 of vouchers.

Jenny’s party, taking place at Whitby Methodist Church, will have a 1950s theme, a bouncy castle and a knitting workshop.

The Co-op was inundated with entries after providing a £10,000 fund for royal revellers across the country.

Jenny will collect her prizes – including bunting, hats, paper plates, cups and flags – from the store on Woodland Road.

Jenny said: “The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is the perfect excuse to bring our local community together and this prize will really help make our celebrations even more memorable.”

“We were really impressed with Jenny’s competition entry,” said Helen Nunn of Co-operative Food. “We thought this neighbourhood deserved something extra special to help celebrate.”
