TWO years ago when Patrycja Wieworowska nervously walked through the doors of The Hub she could never have imagined the passion she would feel when faced with its possible closure.

“I’m absolutely shocked, it’s truly unbelievable how so many people can make decisions about so many teenagers’ futures,” said Patrycja, 17.

The Hub is just one of the youth clubs facing an uncertain future after cuts to funding for youth advisory service Connexions were announced before Christmas.

Patrycja added: “For me personally half the things I’ve put on my CV are only there because of what I’ve done at The Hub.

“I’ve been coming to a group called ‘Teenagers from Abroad’ for two weeks now and I’m amazed at what I’ve achieved.

“I’ve completed a Tall Ships challenge and my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award which I simply couldn’t afford through school.

“It’s become a big part of mine and my friends’ lives and the idea of it disappearing is devastating to me and all the other young people who may move to Ellesmere Port and want to meet people and improve their English.”
