AN ELLESMERE PORT primary school is celebrating after gaining a national award that recognises family connections.

Parklands Community Primary School in Little Sutton has been awarded the Family Partnership Award, which acknowledges the work that goes into supporting and assisting the school’s children and their families.

As part of the scheme, staff engage regularly with families in order to support children, and have recently been working on a portfolio which shows the ways how they work with parents and families.

An external assessor noted in its report of the school that it always went the extra mile to ensure parents and carers have the opportunity to enjoy quality time together in school, by providing open lunches, events and a varied programme of activities throughout the year.

Family learning and adult training

courses also received praise, as did the work of the Family Partnership Team, which provides professional advice and guidance to families in need of support.

The report also acknowledged the ethos of the school as being ‘family-facing’, helpful and approachable.

Staff and pupils were presented with the award, which will be valid for the next three years, during a celebration assembly last week, and the accolade is now proudly on display in the school.
