A DAY nursery offers warm and caring relationships between children and staff, an Ofsted report has found.

Inspector Ron Goldsmith reached his conclusion after visiting The Oaks day nursery at Smithy House, Stanney Lane, Little Stanney.

The nursery, launched in 2000, opens from 7.30am to 6.30pm each weekday excluding bank holidays.

There are 13 staff, most of whom hold appropriate childcare qualifications, and 68 children on roll.

Describing the day nursery as ‘good’ the inspector also points out staff understand how children learn and provide a broad range of activities that enable them to make good progress.

The nursery ensures children are achieving this in their learning and development.

The youngsters are encouraged to become inquisitive and independent learners and staff plan stimulating and challenging experiences. They are able to use outdoor space on a daily basis and in all weathers.

Staff take time at the end of each day to ensure parents are aware of their child’s activities while at the nursery.

The children are confident and their behaviour is very good.
