Wrexham hit back after Allsopp double

WREXHAM, with only 15 senior professionals to call upon were given a early scare at Meadow Lane when Allsopp, who was on loan at the Racecourse 18 months ago, climbed highest to fire a header which Rogers did well to hold.

But the home side went ahead after six minutes from the penalty spot after Warren pulled down Stallard, giving Allsopp the opportunity to record his fifth goal of the season.

The Wrexham defence had to soak up more pressure before Roberts got the ball away and as they settled, the visitors got back on terms after 12 minutes when Trundle, back after a four-match suspension, saw his shot take a wicked deflection off Ireland to completely wrong foot keeper Mildenhall.

Trundle continued to pose the biggest threat to the County defence, twice trying his luck from the edge of the penalty area as Wrexham began to play with a degree of confidence.

Edwards, too, was causing the home defence a few problems and he ran 60 yards, beating several men on the way to test Mildenhall after 27 minutes. But it was not all one way and Fenton headed over the Wrexham cross-bar before a superb run by Cas was cut out by Roberts.

But the home side restored their lead in added time when Allsopp, despite looking yards off-side, was allowed to run on and beat Rogers.
