MARKS and Spencer managers gave up their day to help build a community allotment in Ellesmere Port.

The 20 managers from the North West were giving up their time for Stanlaw Abbey Children’s Centre.

Tasks the volunteers completed included flagging, weeding, building poly tunnels and a wheelchair friendly access to them, planting vegetable seedlings and lots of digging to prepare the ground.

Ann Clay, Stanlaw Abbey Children’s Centre manager, said: “On behalf of the families and staff we would like to thank each and every one of the volunteers for all their hard work.

“In just one rainy day they managed to transform the ground and the community allotment.”
