A POPULAR Northwich pub is helping customers fight off the recession by offering a new range of penny-pinching prices.

The Penny Black on Witton Street is cutting the cost of some of its most popular drinks, and will be offering five different meals for a knockdown £2.99 from today, Monday.

Manager Roger Cazaly said: “People enjoy going to the pub but the economic downturn means that they now have to be more careful with their money.

“I believe that my new food and drink prices will allow people to visit the pub without it costing them too much.

“Unlike most sales that start in January, the pub’s offers will not be ending within days and will run indefinitely.”

The Penny Black, part of the JD Wetherspoon chain, will now offer a pint of Greene King IPA and bottles of San Miguel lager for 99p, a bottle of Blossom Hill Rosé wine for £4.99.

On the food menu cottage pie, chips and peas and spicy tomato pasta are among the dishes now available for the new price.

Mr Cazaly added: “I’m offering leading brands of drinks at excellent prices and the choice means that there is something on offer to suit most tastes.

“I believe that the five meals offer outstanding quality and value too.”
