A MODEL from Northwich will battle it out with 60 other hopefuls this week in a three-day rally and extreme sports competition for the chance to represent the UK.

Emma Cox, 23, is preparing to take part in the challenge of a lifetime after securing a place at the Land Rover G4 Challenge national selections, which take place from November 27-29.

The Challenge combines off-road driving with adventure sports including horse riding, kayaking, mountain biking and orienteering.

Emma, who lives in Castle, manages to squeeze in training sessions between working, looking after her four-year-old daughter and studying Sports Coaching and Development at Mid-Cheshire College.

“I’m reasonably fit - not as fit as I could be but getting there!” she said. “I joined Vale Royal Athletics Club three weeks ago and I feel much fitter already.”

Contestants are eliminated during the three-day event, and if Emma is there at the end she stands a chance of being selected for the UK’s two-person mixed-gender team for the international finals in Mongolia in June.
