A CLOSE-RANGE headed goal by Ashley Stott in the opening quarter made Bangor City’s longest away trip of the season in the Welsh Premier a worthwhile affair.

“It was worth three points and that is what really mattered,” said City’s satisfied manager Nev Powell, whose team have now won four times on their travels.

“The score could have been a lot more because we had several other chances, but it was also pleasing to keep a clean sheet again and I thought our back four were magnificent.

“When we attacked, our lads up front were quite a handful, so I felt we were always going to win and never in any danger of getting anything other than the right result.”

A raid down the right wing by Peter Hoy produced the goal, Stott finding himself unmarked to beat home keeper Lee Idzi.

As Bangor increased the tempo Les Davies steered a header straight at the ‘keeper, Sion Edwards’ shot hit a post and Stott missed out in a one-on-one contest with Idzi.

City’s Paul Smith had a fairly uneventful time, being required only to make one significant intervention, albeit with his legs.

In the second half, Bangor found themselves under pressure for a while, but Mike Johnston and Lee Webber were dominant at the back and restricted opportunities to test Smith.

Bangor also had more chances, Stott firing wide before Davies blasted another chance off target.
