IF Alton Towers want a name for their next white-knuckle ride, I suggest: "The Wrexham." There's never a dull moment if you support the only professional club in North Wales.

The £14 entry fee gives you a lot more than 90 minutes of action.

After a few beers on Saturday night I was convinced that I'd just witnessed the best performance by a League Two team ever.

I was sure Lee McEvilly was the new John Hartson, Dave Bayliss was some sort of Alessandro Nesta and Rio Ferdinand hybrid while Mark Jones was Pele.

But, despite what the Dragons do to warm the cockles of your heart on the pitch, there's always something around the corner to deflate you.

So, on Monday we learn that Surrey-based property developer Andy Smith wants to make another bid for the club. If it's anything like the last two it'll take a long, long time and come to absolutely nothing.

On the pitch, fate continued to conspire against us as another dodgy refereeing decision meant we succumbed to a last-gasp goal against Notts County while Dennis Lawrence was sprawled on the floor. New season, same old story.

But I still feel we can go up and I feel we've got a great chance against Northampton tomorrow.

The Cobblers will view this as an easy three points. But when the chips are down, you can bet the Dragons will upset the odds.
