Nine instrumentalists and seven vocalists competed for a place in the regional final of a Neston Rotary Club-sponsored music competition.

In a packed music room at Poulton Hall, the home of Scirard and Caroline Lancelyn Green, all those taking part gave outstanding performances.

They were cheered on by district governor Philip Horwood, ADG Molly Youd, chairman of youth opportunities Howard Ferdinando and rotarians from around the area, parents and friends,

The winners in the instrumentalists category were Calum McDonald (euphonium), sponsored by Llangefni RC, in first place followed by Zak Coburn (tenor saxophone), sponsored by Wallasey Rotary Club, and Jack Thorn (tenor horn), sponsored by Newtown Rotary Club.

The winners in the vocalist category were Natasha Argarwal, sponsored by Neston Rotary Club, in first place followed by James Llywelyn Edwards, sponsored by Llangefni Rotary Club, and Sinead Hegerty, sponsored by Llanidloes Rotary Club.

Those in first and second places qualify for the regional final which takes place at Bolton School.
