A NESTON couple are celebrating after scooping nearly £450,000 on the EuroMillions draw.

John and Carol Reddy, both 47, were overjoyed after matching five numbers – 4, 5, 17, 38 and 48 plus the lucky star, 3 – in the August 21 draw.

Chester FC fan John said he couldn’t believe it when he logged into his online lottery account to discover he’d won a ‘major prize’ – a whopping £445,440.

Speaking during a Press conference on Friday at the Exacta Stadium – the home of his beloved Blues – John and his wife Carol, a receptionist at the Countess of Chester Hospital, revealed they will use some of the money to have their marriage of 20 years re-blessed in Spain, with daughter Naomi, 12, as their bridesmaid.

“That’s our dream,” said Carol, who met John in the old Rendezvous nightclub in Chester, now known as Rosies.

“We’ve always said we’d do it if we won the Lottery and here we are!”

The couple admitted they’ve been in a daze over the last few days and their win is only now beginning to sink in.

“It’s only today that you realise it’s real,” said John.

“There’s a patch of grass in front of our house and I just want to stand on that patch, punch my arms in the air and just scream!”

Carol added: “We got a bank statement last night and we couldn’t even talk! We just looked at each other.”

John, who goes to Chester FC games with his 17-year-old son Ben and brother Tony, said he will now be getting himself a season ticket.

He also wants to sponsor a match in memory of brother-in-law Kevin, who died from cancer at the age of 45 in July.

Carol, who cared for her brother, said: “I actually believe that it was Kevin who was looking down on us and has sent us this win as a way of saying thank you for all we did.”
