A THEATRE company in Neston has received three nominations for regional awards.

Following last year’s multiple nominations at the 2011 NODA North West Amateur Theatre Awards, the Neston Players were recently delighted to find out they have received three nominations for the 2012 awards.

The awards are held annually to celebrate and recognise amateur dramatic production across the North West.

The Neston hopefuls this year include: Best Actor (Drama) – Rob Poston for ‘Kaffee’ in A Few Good Men; Best Supporting Actor (Drama) – Richard Dodd for ‘Kendrick’ in A Few Good Men; and Best Staging – A Few Good Men.

Chairman Paul Kirkbright said: “Another three nominations this year really reflects the hard work and effort the membership puts into each and every production.

“Having just celebrated our 60th anniversary season and now with our next production looming on the horizon these really are exciting times for the Players.”

The Players’ next production will be their first ever musical, Eurobeat!, a comedy stage musical celebrating everything loveable and cringe-worthy about the Eurovision Song Contest.

The audience will vote for their favourite entry at each performance.

Set in Sarajevo, despite the host’s best efforts, things do not go according to plan.

Evening performances start at 7.45pm (doors open 7pm) on May 8, 9, 10 and 11. There will also be a matinee performance on May 11 at 3pm (doors open 2.30pm).

Tickets are on sale now and priced £8 for evening performances and £6 for the matinee on Saturday.

Tickets are available from Temptations (High Street, Neston), Neston Dry Cleaners (Brook Street, Neston), Linghams (Telegraph Road, Heswall) and Eclipse Ladies Fashion (Brimstage). They can also be bought at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/339848.
