Guides have been able to buy some new uniform and equipment thanks to a housing association’s neighbourhood fund.

The 1st Ness Guides in Neston were successful with their application to the Adactus Neighbourhood Fund for finance to pay for t-shirts with their logo on and also a new tent for their outdoor camps.

The Guides say that by going camping and doing outdoor activities together as a team, the girls learn to be more independent, grow in confidence and as a consequence become more active citizens in their community.

The t-shirts not only let the girls feel part of a team but they also ensure they are easily recognisable when out in the locality.

Guide leader Catherine Hilditch said: “Thank you to Adactus Housing for providing funding for our t-shirts.

“The girls love them and they all felt they were part of a team and people stopped to ask us who we were when we were out and about.”

Laura Reynolds, of Adactus Housing, added: “It’s important to support local groups like this as the aim of Girl Guiding is to enable people to be able to make a positive impact on the neighbourhood as well as the wider community.”
