THEATRE group Tip Top Productions are rehearsing their next production at the former Gateway Theatre in Chester.

Since moving into The Forum Studio on the lower floor of the building more than 12 months ago, the group has produced or hosted more than 20 productions and events at the city centre venue.

Mark Newman, who was last seen as Private Frazer in their recent production of Dad’s Army, is now taking on the job of director for Willy Russell’s Breezeblock Park.

The play tells the story of a typical Liverpool family, together on Christmas Eve among the tinsel and fairy lights.

However, beneath the surface are jealousies, quarrels and a secret.

As the alcohol begins to flow, tongues loosen and a certain piece of news threatens to tear the family apart.

The cast includes regular Tip Top performers Sally Dillon, Marian Newman and Julie Andrew as well as Lee Randle who joined the group to play Private “Stupid Boy” Pike in Dad’s Army.

Breezeblock Park will be performed at The Forum Studio Theatre until November 29 at 7.30pm with a matinee performance on Saturday at 2.30pm.
