WINSFORD town mayor Des Worthington officially reopened the newly refurbished British Heart Foundation Shop at Winsford Cross Shopping Centre last Wednesday.

Cllr Worthington said: “Since the British Heart Foundation was formed in 1961, tremendous progress has been made in the fight against heart disease. Thousands of lives have been saved and new drugs and surgical techniques have been developed.

“The quality of life for heart patients has been greatly improved. But the fight must continue. Heart and circulatory disease is still the UK’s biggest killer. More needs to be found out about the causes, treatment and prevention of heart disease.

“Research is expensive and the Foundation relies entirely upon voluntary donations for its income.”
