THE Mayor of Ellesmere Port’s charity concert has raised £630 for the town’s children’s charities and groups.

Cllr Angela Claydon hosted the event at the Whitby Sports and Social Club on Saturday, March 10.

Special guests were two local folk bands, Fiddlestone and Welcomme, Finnan and Chrimes, supported by the Fireflies ladies’ choir and the Ellesmere Port Silver Band.

Cllr Claydon said: “I was absolutely delighted with the concert. We were treated to a wide range of music, which demonstrated the wealth of talent we have here in Ellesmere Port.”

The Mayor has been involved in folk music for many years and used to run the Traveller’s Rest Folk Club. She added: “It was great that my old friends from the folk club came along to help me.”
