THE biggest Christmas tree in the country will be lit at Cheshire Oaks tomorrow (Thursday) from 7pm.

The familiar festive landmark, which boasts 80,000 baubles and 100,000 lights, was erected in a painstaking process last week.

This year a massive sing-along will herald the start of the Christmas season at the shopping outlet raising funds for Claire House children’s hospice.

Celebrity vocal coach Yvie Burnett will lead the singing at the bid to host the UK’s largest Christmas-singing event.

Yvie has been a coach on The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, America’s Got Talent and The Voice, and has trained Susan Boyle, JLS, Katy Perry and Paloma Faith.

Radio City 96.7’s presenters Jay and Claire from hit breakfast show Rossie and Co will compère the event and a fireworks display will follow.

Choirs including the Manchester Airport Choir, which featured in BBC series The Choir, will lead the singing.

Brian Handley, centre manager at McArthurGlen Cheshire Oaks, said: “Yvie is the perfect person to make sure that this event hits the right note.

“We’re really looking forward to hosting an evening where our customers can be part of something so exciting.”
