A MOTORIST was rescued from his car roof after being caught in flooding in Stoak.

The man became stranded after heavy rainfall on  Little Stanney Lane, Stoak, at 3.52pm yesterday(Monday).  

One fire engine from the Ellesmere Port station attended after reports of a man  trapped on the roof of his car.

Crews found a saloon car in 3ft of water and one man was rescued from the vehicle by two firefighters in wading gear.

The vehicle was towed out of the water by a tractor. Police were in attendance at the scene and closed the road.
