AN AFRICAN asylum seeker who made £47,000 by working illegally for a supermarket chain, has been sentenced to 16 months imprisonment.

Chenor Jalloh, 26, originally from Guinea, worked at the Morrisons depot in Rudheath from November 2004 to September 2008.

He got the job with a fake passport and national insurance card, Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard last week. Jalloh pleaded guilty to four charges relating to possessing false documents.

Peter Cooper, defending, said the defendant had come to Britain in 2004 to seek asylum.
