A MAN charged with arson has been remanded in custody.
Stephen John Roberts, 20, of Plas Gwyn, Maes y Dre, Wrexham, is charged with arson at a council flat in West Circle, Wrexham, on December 28, when an estimated £20,000 worth of damage was caused.
At Flintshire Magistrates Court at Mold, an application for bail was rejected and Roberts was remanded in custody and the case transferred to the Crown Court.
The court heard allegations from Wyn Jones, prosecuting, that a mattress had been dragged from a bedroom into the lounge and set on fire.
Rod Williams, defending, said his client would lose his job as a roofer if he was remanded in custody and suggested that bail could be granted subject to conditions of residence, curfew, and the defendant could report regularly to the local police.
