A newly modernised post office in Ellesmere Port is offering Sunday opening.

The new Post Office local service in Little Sutton post office at 385 Chester Road, Little Sutton opened its doors at 1pm on Monday.

Post Office services are now provided from an open-plan counter in the store where the post office terminal sits alongside the till. They are available during the store’s opening hours of 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

The new-look post office in the newly refurbished store enables residents and small business customers to access a wide range of post office and mail services, including special delivery, local collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

Other services include withdrawals using a post office card account and sending funds abroad using Moneygram. Customers can also pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.

The opening hours have increased by an extra 49hrs 30mins a week which the Post Office believes will ensure the branch is more convenient for users.

Sue Whittall, area manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents. We are confident that this vibrant new-style post office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

At the end of 2013, the post office launched consultations on the branch moving to McColls next to Little Sutton Station. A spokesperson said: “We listened to feedback and did not proceed with the move.”
