STUDENTS at Mid-Cheshire College are confident they have made history by breaking one of the more unusual world records.

Media students Richard Bailey and Michael Copp, both 17, are hoping they have written their name into the Guinness Book of Records for the number of Maltesers caught in the mouth in 60 seconds.

The current record is 18 but the pair, whilst filming a documentary on world records as part of their coursework, managed to scoff 28, whilst also raising money for Children in Need. They are now awaiting verification of their successful attempt.

Meanwhile, Weaver Vale MP Mike Hall MP dropped into Mid Cheshire College to help plant a “tree of knowledge” as part of the inaugural National Colleges Week celebrations earlier this month.

Principal John Reilly said: “The college continues to go from strength to strength. With a record number of enrolments this year and success rates in the top 5% in the country, we have a first-class college the community can be proud of.”
