A WREXHAM Liberal Democrat candidate has voiced his anger at the decision to close 60 post office branches across North Wales, including Wrexham’s Acton Post Office which is due to close today (Thursday).
More than 1,000 residents backed a petition organised by Dr Tom Rippeth and councillors in the Acton area.
However, he claims the post office ignored local opinion and pushed ahead with the closure.
Dr Rippeth said: “I am very annoyed the so-called post office consultation appears to have ignored the many local concerns raised during the consultation period for the post offices all of which are now due to close this week.
“I raised issues ranging from concerns of access using public transport, the already over-loaded service at the main post office in the town centre and the future of local branches given the take over of Somerfield by the Co-op. I am still waiting for a full reply on these issues.”
