BOROUGH mayor Keith Butcher has officially opened a supermarket in Little Sutton.

KS Convenience, which is based at the old Kwik Save store in Chester Road, began trading on Monday.

Last week the Pioneer exclusively revealed how Ledsham-based owner David Parry was “fully-committed” to the village having taken over the premises on a long-term lease and ploughed his own money into the venture.

Earlier this year, more than 1,000 people signed a petition as part of a campaign to bring a new supermarket to Little Sutton. Lead campaigner, Val Waring, says people are delighted about the new store opening and believe it will be the making of the village.

Borough council leader and Ledsham councillor Justin Madders said the supermarket would help make Little Sutton “vibrant” and hailed the residents who took part in the campaign.
