MORE than 12,000 jobs could be created at a Runcorn business park thanks to a £220m investment plan.

The programme for Daresbury Park will turn the site into the region's largest office development.

Over the next 15 years, Halton Borough Council and architects Aukett Europe will work on attracting new firms to the park with the creation of 1.6m sq ft of office space.

Key features of the investment plan include flexibility of plot sizes, quality landscaping and a new bus service linking Daresbury Park to Runcorn and nearby Warrington.

Mike Cuff, chief executive of Halton Borough Council, said: 'There has been a particular need for a high quality employment site in the area to attract service sector and high technology companies to help broaden our traditional economic base.'

The site is currently the headquarters for blue chip companies ABB Eutech, Engineering Solutions, Vistorm Ltd and the DeVere Group.

A 55,000 sq ft building is also under construction, with planning permission being sought for two further units.

Work on a £1.5m infrastructure project will begin later this year.

Andy Lavin, director of Daresbury Park Development, said: 'The revised master plan sets out a clear future for the park.

'It will develop as an exciting, vibrant place of work set within a strong and sustainable community.'
