POLICE are hunting a sex attacker who indecently assaulted a 24-year-old woman near Chester city centre.

They want to talk to a mystery jogger who disturbed the offender during the incident which happened about 9pm on Sunday at the junction of New Crane Street and Walls Avenue, off Sealand Road.

The woman was walking alone when she was approached by the male and subjected to a sexual assault.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, 5ft 8in tall, slim, with short curly hair, wearing a white V-neck T-shirt with a blue stripe around the 'V' and dark trousers or jeans.

He was disturbed and ran off when a jogger arrived. Police are keen to speak to this man, who is about 50 years old and was wearing a T-shirt and shorts.

He continued to run in the direction of Walls Avenue.

Cheshire police spokesman Ivor Lewis said: 'The CID at Chester would like to

speak to this man as soon as possible. He is requested to contact them on 01244 613131.

'Anyone else who can assist in identifying the offender is also requested to contact CID. Confidential information can be given on 0800 555 111.'
