THE mouthpiece for Wrexham's prospective owners, Andy Smith, gave his first in-depth interview in this paper on Tuesday. Let's look at what he said.

Firstly: "We are not going to damage (the club) we want to see it established on a firm financial footing."

Right, with the crowds we currently get that's not going to be done through gate receipts. As property developers Mr Smith's group will look to use the land attached to the football club.

So what exactly are the development plans? It's already been said redevelopment - commercial or housing - is planned for surplus land at the Racecourse. But will the club have to move while it takes place and what's the future for Stansty and Colliers Park? Are those going to be left untouched? Will there be a new stand for the Racecourse?

"The aim is to come out of administration quickly once the sale has gone through."

Small matter of the tax bill Mr Smith (to name but one). Although the administrators can perhaps do a deal with the Inland Revenue is that money available up front? Property developments take time, how is cash-flow going to be addressed?

"Of course it's not just me, because I don't have that sort of money. But the other people don't wish to be identified."

Why not? We've had this all before Mr Smith. The fans worked tirelessly to expose the true ownership of Alex Hamilton, even though Mark Guterman said he owned the club. And they'll do it again.

"We want to see local involvement, with people from the area on the board of directors."

Right, so you'll keep the two Daves on the board then, local people who've spent huge amounts of time and energy to protect the club.

"I'm looking forward to proving cynics wrong."

Not as much as we are Mr Smith.
