THE Hospice of the Good Shepherd is gearing up for its first ladies only ‘Starlight Walk’ in Ellesmere Port.

The event, which takes place on Saturday, September 25, starts at the stroke of midnight.

It is a four mile walk on a circular route which starts and ends at the University Church of England Academy’s North campus in Mill Lane.

A spokeswoman for the Hospice said: “You don’t need to be an experienced walker to take part, just put on your comfy trainers and walk at whatever pace you like.

“And if you need a break there will be a refreshment stop at the Red Lion pub in Little Sutton.

“Knowing as we do that ‘girls just wanna have fun’, our 2010 walk is sure to be packed full of fun and camaraderie.

“Why not enter as a group and make it a girls night out? Find some friends, relatives or work colleagues and enter for some guaranteed extra laughs.”

Last year 600 ladies took part in the Chester Starlight Walk and between them they raised £40,000 in sponsorship.

That money has played a big part in helping the hospice to care for over 1,500 people affected by life limiting illnesses over the past 12 months.

To register go to www.starlightwalk.eventbrite.com.

There is a £10 registration fee for walkers and a £2 early bird discount which goes towards the cost of a glow in the dark pink T-shirt, starlight medal, refreshments and goody bag.

The last date for registration is Friday, September 24.
