A charity evening in memory of an Ellesmere Port woman has raised more than £7,000 for The Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

The event was organised to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the passing of Margaret Pendergast.

Paul Pendergast and his family Charlene, Jamie, Cherie and Jack would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped out with the event along with the kind donations. They say it was a fantastic night where more than 200 people turned up to show their respects to Margaret.

Paul, his children and many friends and family also got together to travel around Ellesmere Port and Chester in fancy dress selling raffle tickets for the event.

The raffle was drawn in the Woodlands pub on Sunday, November 13. Jamie Waston won the TV, Mark Hughes winning the ipad and there were many other winners.

Cherie said: “We managed to raise £3,735.73, which is an amazing figure which would not have been possible without everyone’s support.

“We would also like to say a big thank you to Margaret’s sister Dianne Bridger who got a price match from Lloyds bank where she works of £3,500. This makes a grand total of £7,235.73 which we have donated to the hospice.

“We will continue to keep Margaret’s memory alive and continue to support the hospice. We will never forget what a fantastic support network the hospice offered in Margaret’s final weeks of her life.”
