THE HOSPICE of the Good Shepherd has appointed a specialist bereavement counsellor.

Danka Chitryn will work for the hospice’s Reflect service with children and young people, families and adults pre- and post-bereavement.

The service is available for children and young people aged from three-19 and offers counselling either on a one-to-one basis or with family members.

The service is offered to Chester, rural Cheshire and Ellesmere Port and works very closely with schools in the area.

Danka said: “The illness or death of someone we care about is something many of us experience and we can be deeply affected by it.

“Difficult feelings such as sadness, anger, fear, loneliness, guilt and disbelief are perfectly normal but can be difficult to express.

“We all react differently; children and young people feel the pain of loss just as much as adults. Our Reflect service offers young people a safe and confidential environment where difficult and confusing thoughts and feelings can be expressed and explored with a qualified and experienced counsellor.”
