WREXHAM RUFC’s weekend programme was eventually postponed when Saturday morning checks by officials on pitches at Bethesda, Llangollen and Mold confirmed that frozen conditions were unlikely to change.

There are, however, high hopes that warmer weather will arrive this Saturday and all three scheduled games at the club’s Bryn Estyn Road home will get the go ahead.

Wrexham 1sts take on basement boys Bangor in North Wales League Division Two, Wrexham 2nds are up against neighbours Mold 2nds in Division Four, while Wrexham Youth pit their wits against Caernarfon Youth in WRU Youth Leagues Gogledd Cymru Region Division One (all 2.30pm).

Wrexham 1sts beat Bangor 32-7 at Cae Milltir on the opening day of the season and, despite not having played for five weeks because of waterlogged and frozen pitches and the Christmas break, they should repeat the success.

Wrexham 2nds went down 41-35 to Mold 2nds at Chester Road earlier in the campaign, but recent victories over Flint and Harlech will leave them confident of reversing that result.

Title-chasing Wrexham Youth will be looking to do their first double of the season having overcome the Cofis 12-8 at The Morfa in September.
